Pretend you are moving into a new home. I’m curious about what you would put in this room to make it cozy? Find 2 to 3 things on Pinterest, then leave a comment sharing what you would add to this room.
The eyes of a child, a dash of their favorite ‘object of affection, was all they needed. It does not take much to encourage a child’s imagination, no matter the millennium we live in. Throughout history, the same basic themes continue. My Malika Bourne Legacy designs focus on the basics.
This AI-generated image shows a growing baby and toy animals. No matter the generation, children love to play with the same basic themes, such as animals.
And with the magic of AI, I get to create illustrations that I have been dreaming of illustrating the children’s books I have written over the last four decades, but never got published in print – until now.
In this blog I prompted all of the images using a AI app to create several spotless family rooms for me. The idea is to have a blank spot that we can have fun filling in the empty spaces. In this post, I will start to ‘decorate’ with my magic and Canva tools as an expereimnet to see what happens.
The image below is AI-generated – and it works to show a little girl dancing around pretending to be a pretty ballerina. We don’t know and probably don’t care what generation she might live in. It is her smile because she feels pretty in a pink tutu. The energy resonates with you, doesn’t it?
Most little girls love to dance around in frilly pink tulle, imagining how pretty their world is.
Cut and paste pictures:
When my children and grandchildren were small, we’d cut out pictures from magazines or newsprint flyers to glue onto paper to make a collage. The boys would go for animals or vehicles with gears and wires. Most of our girls loved all the fru-fru and frills with pink bows. One loved to stack and connect things. So, the work-in-progress new activity book has to be flexible enough to appeal to a variety of interests.
Finding pictures in print to cut out and over-glue on a piece of paper are few-and-far between in 2026. So I made do with magic… find out below my alternative for early-childhood educators, and parents to help their kids at home.
Pretty Pastels:
I thought this pastel flora tote looked girly on this blue chair to start.
Spring flowers adorn this eco-friendly tote bag that can be used many times over. I’d really like to see what you can do with this idea. Go ahead… Pin one of these rooms and find some items on Pinterest that you would add to the room.
Pretend you have just bought a new home. Your son loves the sage green walls. He has some ideas to decorate this room his way.
What would you add to the room below that would make it feel like home? Feel free to download the images of the empty rooms in this blog post. I prompted them on AI for use on this blog for the sole purpose of decorating with my boutique creations. Please do not copy and use for your own business mock-ups.
The Green Room
Does this sage green wall inspire your imagination? What would you add to this room to make it feel cozy for your family? Dream big.

Sneak Peek at the Newest Home Decor’ for the Kids:
Here are some of my latest designs for Malika Bourne Legacy
- Wall hanging matte poster.
Where can I hang this poster titled Morning Meadow by Malika Bourne?
- Over-stuffed pillow
Think spring! Can you smell the fragrant flowers in the meadow, fresh with morning dew? Can you picture this throw pillow in a pastel girl’s room? Pillow: Meadow Morning
-
Mock-up girly room
How would you decorate this room? I added my Morning Meadow poster and a matching throw pillow. The baby is a mock-up model wearing my Hulda Hippo baby body suit.
-
Tiger wall-hanging
Don’t worry, the tiger in this poster won’t bite. It’s sugar-coated. Boys love learning about wild animals. But is this one too scary?
-
Pillow features a toucan.
Aren’t these bright colors exciting? The toucan looks like it could fly off the pillow and fly all over the room, don’t you think?
I think this experiment is turning out well. What do you think?
Moms, Dads, and Teachers, I’d like to ask a question:
What do you think about having printed pages of these kinds of items that could be cut out with scissors to decorate a printed page of a room?
(I would suggest laminating the pieces for a long-lasting craft.)
HINT: I have 100’s of theme pages ready to go into coloring books. The themes are all related to t-shirts, wall hangings, throw pillows, and more… Most have an option to personalize with your child’s name or the family name.
As I was creating the designs of these images on my decor creations, I made coloring pages for the kids. Then I went a step further. I made coloring pages for the younger kiddos that have simple lines. Want to see a sample? Keep scrolling… Check out the green room first. It’s a jungle!
I know some little boys who would love this jungle room – if it were a real room. I think pre-school teachers would love to have these wild animal pictures for their classrooms, too. Teachers, your feedback is welcome.
The posters and pillows are being published on April 1, 2026, on MalikaBourneLegacy.com
My children’s stories and coloring books are coming soon...
I know that I have promised. Talk about over-dependence on technology that is advancing beyond my imagination. I've stuck with using my cell phone HOTSpot for internet and it is so slow.
To reward your patience, ... free coloring pages to download at a snail’s pace, in April, 2026. (Sure and steady wins the race.)
Sample of an unedited coloring page that will find a home in an activity book… What’s the story behind it?
Toucan color page: When it is edited along with 2 dozen more jungle critters, it will be ready to color in an activity book. What colors are the bird’s feathers?
I have a question about which of the following styles would children, ages 6 to 10, appreciate the most if the activity were like the old paper dolls? When you visit Malika Bourne Legacy, you will a few free downloadable PDF's...coming soon...
#1 of 3. AI prompted image of a baby’s room.
#2 of 3 A coloring book image of a baby’s room.
#3 This image is a colorized activity page for DIY paper doll room decor activity. Would you mind covering this page with laminating paper? Or would you use a plastic sleeve to make it last longer for an activity?
