About Malika Bourne Legacy

Malika Bourne Legacy was created as merch support for the author's literary manuscripts, meant to showcase her published books. Google was more confused than any curious visitor, wondering where the promised books were. ( I asked the scam publishers the same question.)

Since September 2025, this boutique has looked like a POD jewelry shop that offered T-shirts and mugs with great sayings - But who knew during the planned 2025 Halloween book launch and Christmas rush?  This ecommerce store reeked of a bad whodunit mystery plot about an old woman stuck in one of those escape rooms.

• A technical do-hickey was corrupted by some kind of ghost link, and the missing key was hidden and nearly invisible to humans who wear bifocals. (That is my version and I'm sticking to it.)

About the t-shirts: mugs and chocolate-covered bumper stickers seemed like good support merch for my books.

I didn't start designing children's clothing from a trend report. I started because I'm a great-grandmother of four boys — ages newborn to 8 years at the time  — and I couldn't find what I was looking for.

Not for them. Not for my granddaughters either.

What I kept finding was adult humor on tiny shirts. Sarcastic phrases on a size 4T. Designs that had nothing to do with the child wearing them. As the blogger No Non-cents Nanna, if a t-shirt wasn't fun, educational, or on sale, I wasn't buying it.

So I spent two years learning to design t-shirts on my own. Yes, that long. I'm grateful I improved so much, and now all the original designs are being replaced with new and improved designs waiting in line for their time to appear in this shop.

Every piece in this shop starts with a real child in mind — curious, joyful, and deserving of something beautiful. My boutique watercolor designs are intentionally age-appropriate. Sweet for the little ones. Expressive for the older girls. And for boys, infants through age 7, I design from lived experience — because I know exactly what they love. (After age 8 - not my expertise.)

This store is also built on something bigger. A portion of what we do here supports MA4MS — Martial Arts for Multiple Sclerosis, founded by my son David, who was a martial artist before MS changed his life. He still builds, still creates, still calls dojos across the country to connect MS patients with supportive instructors. That's the legacy this store is named for.

David is also my tech support for the No Non-cents Nanna blog started in 2011, and is in charge of pushing all the manuscripts to the printers for publication.
