Children don’t grow in neat, predictable lines.
A four‑year‑old might be tall and lanky, while a six‑year‑old might still prefer the comfort of toddler cuts. Developmental milestones, sensory needs, and body proportions all play a role in how a shirt actually fits — not just the number printed on a size tag.
That’s why at Malika Bourne Legacy, I design with flexibility in mind. I currently offer one base size per design, but I’m expanding to include more size blocks. Until then, I encourage families to contact me directly if you’re unsure which size will work best for your child. I’m happy to help you choose the right fit or special order smaller or even larger size. If the size doesn't work, contact me with a photo, and I will exchange it for you, as long as it has not been worn.

- 2T: 33–35 lbs, 33–35"

Why the “borderline” matters: Kindergarteners often fall right between toddler and youth sizing. Some need toddler width for comfort; others need youth length for growth. This is normal — and it’s exactly why I offer personalized guidance.
Price Ranges
Your pricing will vary by size block because of production costs:
- Toddler: $18–$22
- Youth: $22–$26
- Adult XS–XL: $26–$32
- Adult 2XL–5XL: $32–$38
- Note: prices may vary depending on the brand chosen for the best color availability for the designs.
No resizing fee: If you need a design resized to a different shirt size, I do that on the house. Families with special needs deserve flexibility without extra charges.
Good-Faith Returns (Softly Stated)
If a size doesn’t work, I accept returns in good faith as long as the item is unworn and in excellent condition. My goal is to support families, not stress them.
Please leave your phone # and best time to call you. I will respond as quickly as I can, usually within an hour in the Central Time Zone.
Allow up to 72 hours to hear from me, just in case. I am a sole proprietor with a bedbound adult child at home.

Q: What if the size doesn’t work? A: If the wrong size was ordered, I’m not able to accept a return. However, I’m always happy to help you choose the right size next time, and I can resize a design at no extra charge. If an item arrives damaged or incorrect, I will replace it right away.
Q: Why do prices vary by size?
Children’s apparel comes from several trusted companies, each with its own size blocks, fit, and production costs. Working with more companies allows me to offer more colors, softer fabrics, and premium options across Infants, Toddlers, and Youth sizes — so prices vary between those companies’ size groups.
- Adult sizes are the only category I’ve begun standardizing at one unified price.
- I am holding prices steady through 2026, even though production and shipping costs have risen. Some items may be discontinued as I refine the collection for 2027.
Be sure to check the size charts included on most description pages. If unsure, I always suggest choosing one size larger. Different brands fit differently — for example, Gildan tends to run shorter from the neckline to the bottom hem, while Bella + Canvas tends to run longer. If you’re shopping for a long‑waisted child or need a specific fit, you can request the design on a different brand in a similar available color.
